The fall 2019 One Room Challenge™ (sponsored by Better Homes & Gardens) is here, and LIFECORE has joined the list of premiere home décor products and brands as hand-picked designers transform one room from October 2 through November 6. We’ve sponsored Jewel Marlowe of Jeweled Interiors on her living room renovation, Stacey Ann Blake of Design Addict Mom on her master closet transformation and Erika Ward on her new kitchen design. LIFECORE Anton Fresh Aire, Anew Gentling, and Abella Moderna will be making an appearance. Special thanks to BPI and JJ Haines for helping make this possible.

A Jewel of a Living Room Renovation Featuring LIFECORE Anton Fresh Aire
Though Jewel considered oak and maple options for her living room design, she ultimately landed on LIFECORE Anton Fresh Aire. One of our trendiest oak flooring options, this light brown engineered hardwood brings a sophisticated, natural look to any space thanks to its sawn-marked style.
Jewel Marlowe is an interior design blogger at Jeweled Interiors. She lives with her husband and four children in Northern Virginia/DC area. Together they have made 13 moves around the country and also to England. She has a passion for an eclectic mix of style, pattern, and color.
“I am designing a living room. Also included in the makeover is the attached kitchen/eat in area. It’s one big space, but the living room is a step down and vaulted. It has skylights and is attached to a sunroom, so it has fabulous lighting. Also included is a gas fireplace, perfect for snuggling when the temps start to drop. It is fair to say that this is our favorite room during all seasons of the year. It’s just lacking any personality and is in serious need of an update.”
“The warmth of Anton Fresh Aire is just beautiful. To me I see European and traditional more so than rustic. It has an old-world feel. Almost like you could see it in a French apartment or a British townhome.” At first Jewel was between Anton Fresh Aire and Arden Always, but ultimately she chose Anton. “I do really like the Always. It has a little more cool tones which would play well with the blue, but I have a crush on Fresh Aire.”

LIFECORE Anew Gentling Transforming Design Addict Mom’s Master Closet
Stacey went straight for Anew Gentling, another customer favorite among our hardwood floors. This engineered oak floor is one of our organic reactive options, which were named Top New Building Products by This Old House. This light brown hardwood floor has a neutral, reclaimed look thanks to its deep wire brushed and distressed style.
Stacey is a mama of three and a very proud military wife. Her work has been featured not only in numerous places online, but also in print, locally and nationally. After being an educator for many years, she took a hiatus to stay home and take care of the kiddos. In doing so, she discovered the world of blogging and found her new talent and passion that is now her blog; Design Addict Mom. She shares interior design news and trends, her interior design projects, snippets of motherhood and lifestyle musings.
“I loved the beautiful, light finish of Anew Gentling. It’s very neutral, which is great for creating a seamless transition from the adjoining Master bath design aesthetic.” The master closet design is part of a larger renovation for the master bathroom. “The rest of the home is an unabashed use of color and pattern so this redesign will fit right in.”

LIFECORE Abella Moderna for a Timeless Kitchen Update
Designer Erika Ward has titled her project “Western Cape Classic,” bringing together timeless design and a little Cape Town inspiration. Though she’d originally been planning to refinish her existing floors, Erika turned to LIFECORE Abella Moderna, and these warm brown hardwoods, which are hand-scraped and wire-brushed for unique character, will fit right in.
Erika is an award winning, published interior designer committed to timeless interiors, lifestyle, and wellness. With her strong foundation in business finance and over a decade of design experience as the Owner and Principal designer of Erika Ward Interiors, Erika has combined both to properly educate the consumer on the benefits, both financial and intrinsic, of a well-designed home. As a wife and working mother of five, Erika has also demonstrated how to achieve success in both work and life.
“We chose the Abella Moderna because we love the hand scraped texture and the warmth this color adds back to our new white kitchen,” said Erika. Even better? LIFECORE hardwoods are low VOC, something that’s particularly important for Erika who is committed to wellness as a part of her design philosophy.
“Last year we had the original floors refinished, however the contractors used a water-based poly that didn’t last a month. Our floors looked horrible. The plan was to have them refinished again, but with oil-based poly,” Erika explained. “I wasn’t too thrilled with the idea of being exposed to the strong fumes. My 6-year old is one-year post chemotherapy so I’m way more conscious about exposing him and our other four children to harmful materials.”
